Videos of Beat Saber masters showing-off their incredible speed and precision have become a hit on YouTube, especially with all the custom songs out there.
If you’ve seen videos of these pro players, you’ve probably seen them using some cool sabers that aren’t included in the base game.
These fan-made sabers can be really funny and really cool – but if you’re not sure where to start then we’ve got a list of all the best saber mods right here.
25. Kitchen Knife
Maybe I’ve been watching too much Food Wars (or, rather, I’m sure of it), but these nice and simple Kitchen Knives are really appealing to me.
With them, you’ll slice those blocks like you were cutting the tendons in a slab of A5 Wagyu beef, or chopping-up onions for a nice Italian soffrito.
If you’re not feeling the gourmet vibe, you could also think of yourself as a psycho killer or the main character in Alice: Madness Returns.
24. Energy Swords
Fans of Bungie’s Halo saga will recognize the Energy Sword – a bad-ass hardlight blade wielded by the Sangheili Elites of the Covenant Empire.
There are many takes on the Energy Sword floating around for use in Beat Saber. But this one is a cut above thanks to the level of detail and the fantastic electrical current shader on the blade, which looks just like the ones on the Halo games.
You can further customize it through Saber Factory if you want to add trails or any other special effects.
23. SaltSaber
This SaltSaber is the perfect blade for those times when things just aren’t going your way.
Maybe you had a great combo going and screwed it up in the last 10 seconds of the song.
Or perhaps you’re just angry that your Twitch stream isn’t getting enough donations.
Either way, you’re salty – just like these hilarious sabers.
You may have effed up your combo, but at least you’ll get a laugh out of it.
22. LeekSaber
If you’ve been around the Internet for a while, you know why a couple of leeks can be the ideal sabers in a rhythm game.
Spinning leeks to the beat of Miku Hatsune’s Ievan Polka rendition was one of the first proto-memes doing the rounds around the internet in the mid-2000s.
Now we can use them to slice blocks in any Miku Hatsune track for Beat Saber.
21. Master Sword & Hylian Shield
If you love the Zelda franchise, you might wet yourself with excitement to try this Master Sword & Hylian Shield.
This sword was blessed by the Goddess Hylia to vanquish evil – so a couple of rhythmic blocks shouldn’t be a problem.
On the other hand, slicing blocks with a shield may feel a bit weird – but considering shields have been used on the offensive since medieval times, I’m sure you’ll find a way.
Feel like Link as you slice through blocks with this modded heroic equipment.
20. Scissor Blades
Based on Studio Trigger’s fantastic Kill la Kill anime, the Scissor Blades are thin, great-looking sabers that look like… well, a disassembled scissor.
In the show, they’re the only weapons capable of destroying Life Fibers – a mysterious alien lifeform trying to take over the world.
There are no Life Fibers in Beat Saber.
But these will cut through rhythm blocks just fine. Plus, they’re compatible with the custom colors mod!
19. Keyblades
In the Kingdom Hearts series, everybody has a Keyblade – cool, key-shaped swords that manifest from deep within someone’s heart.
They can open or close portals between worlds. And now, they can slice through rhythm blocks to “Face My Fears”.
Each character has a specific blade in the KH games, and these ones seem to be modeled after Sora’s – except they’ve been modified to fit with Beat Saber’s neon aesthetic.
They even have working keychains that respond to gravity. Nice touch.
18. χ-Blade
Nothing is quite as powerful as the χ-Blade in the world of Kingdom Hearts – except perhaps the power of friendship, and Disney’s corporate influence.
It basically looks like two regular keyblades fused into one, but it’s actually the original sword after which all other keyblades are modeled.
Whoever wields it can unlock and control the Kingdom Hearts – the heart of all worlds and a source of unlimited power.
In Beat Saber, it may help you unlock a new high score.
17. Giant Iron Hammers
While some people prefer the elegance and precision of a sleek blade, others would rather smash things into little pieces than delicately slice them.
These Giant Iron Hammers will let you do just that.
Feel like a mighty dwarven warrior, or Thor with double the Mjölnirs, as you smash block after block in your favorite tracks.
They’re pretty large, so try to use them in songs where precision is not a concern.
16. Hatchet
I’ve always preferred axes and hatchets to swords in video games.
They just look way cooler and easier to wield!
These neonpunk hatchets are simple enough, and the glowing accents look fantastic on them.
Their length may feel a bit confusing at first, but don’t worry – you’ll get used to it in no time.
15. Ashbringer
When it comes to bad-ass magical swords, World of Warcraft has one of the largest rosters – and Ashbringer is one of the coolest.
It used to belong to Alexandros Mograine, the former Highlord of the Silver Hand. Later, it was wielded by Tirion Fordring during the Argent Crusade’s campaign against the scourge.
Now it’s in your hands – in two different versions with lightning and flame effects, respectively.
14. Genji’s Dragonblade
Overwatch fans will instantly recognize cybernetic ninja Genji’s twin dragon blades – Blizzard’s take on a cyberpunk version of traditional Japanese swords.
You’ll feel the power of the dragon flowing through you with this asymmetrical pair of blades.
The right one is the full length of a katana, while the other is more like an odachi – just like it’s shown in Overwatch.
13. Microchip
If you’re looking for a thin blade that looks right at home in Beat Saber’s futuristic neonpunk world, the Microchip is a no-brainer.
These sabers feel like energy is running through them, mostly thanks to the digital-looking flowing pattern on the hilt, mirrored by the data-like trace left by the blades upon swinging.
You’ll feel like Neo in The Matrix – if he’d been dancing the night away rather than overthrowing a machine empire.
12. Dreadblades
The Dreadblades are the bad-ass artifact wielded by Outlaw Rogues in the Legion expansion for World of Warcraft – and now you can use them to slice blocks to the beat of your favorite songs.
They were originally found by Admiral Eliza Goreblade, an undead pirate who used them to reign supreme aboard her ship, the Horizon’s Edge.
These blades will grant their wielder incredible power but consume them if they stop feeding them victims – so you better get slicing!
11. SpaceOpera
One of the most popular saber options you’ll see on YouTube and the like is the SpaceOpera – the closest thing you can get to Star Wars lightsabers.
This saber won’t let you use the Force or heighten your medichlorian count. But at least in-game, you’ll feel like a Jedi for sure.
Hopefully you’ll also play like one.
One of its best aspects is that it supports custom colors – and the blade’s trails are also affected by whatever color you pick.
10. Fractured
If you’re planning on tackling high-difficulty tracks that require extreme precision, you’re better off with a thin blade – and few are as appealing as the Fractured.
This elegant rapier-like saber looks like it was made out of cracked crystal.
It may have been shattered, but it’ll slice through rhythm blocks just fine.
9. Lances of Longinus
Not to be confused with the spear that pierced the side of Jesus Christ, these Lances of Longinus are based on the mighty weapons shown in the Evangelion anime and films.
This lance has a cool dual helix design that splits into a two-pronged fork at the business end of the weapon, and it can penetrate any Absolute Terror Field.
If you even know what that means, you’re an Evangelion nerd – just like me – and you should definitely try this out.
8. Pappenheimer
The Pappenheimer-hilt rapier was popularized back in the 17th century by Count Pappenheim – a German Imperial General during the Thirty Years’ War.
Now you can wield a futuristic version of this fashionable blade in Beat Saber.
It’s elegant, reasonably thin, and the glowing accents on both the blade and the hilt are out-of-this-world. It also supports custom colors.
It’s a blade fit for a noble soul.
7. Aestus Estus
I’m a die-hard fan of the Fate franchise. And the Aestus Estus from Fate/Extra is one of my favorite weapons in the entire series.
It’s very unique and irregular, much like the character who wields it – Roman Emperor Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, who’s a hot anime girl in Fate/Extra — because that’s how Fate operates.
This incredible blade may be a little too much for some, but I’m sure weebs like me are going to love it.
6. Minecraft Swords
Now these blocky blades are a must-have for YouTubers, streamers, and any Minecraft lovers out there.
What makes these so special is that they’ll change into better versions of themselves the longer your combo.
At 75 consecutive blocks, they’ll go from wood to iron, then gold at 150, and finally diamond when you reach 250.
The change can be a bit distracting, but they’re still a blast to use.
5. Mandalorian DarkSaber
The Mandalorian Darksaber was forged in the distant past by Tarre Vizsla – the first Mandalorian inducted into the Jedi order.
It was recently featured in the show finale for The Mandalorian’s second season. And while Din Djarin doesn’t seem to know what he’s holding, it made some fans lose their marbles with hype when they saw it.
Now, you can wield this sleek, katana-like saber in your Beat Saber game.
This mod supports custom colors too, so you’ll feel like a total bad-ass slicing blocks with it.
4. Cyber Blade
Of all the sabers in this list, few seem as appropriate for Beat Saber’s futuristic setting as the Cyber Blade.
These bad-ass swords look perfect for a cyberpunk samurai of rhythm – and you’ll feel like nothing can stop you once you get hacking and slashing at the incoming blocks.
It’s the kind of thing you’d expect to see as a weapon in Cyberpunk 2077 – if you hadn’t demanded a refund and returned the game due to bugs.
3. High-Frequency Blade
If there’s a video game character that would wipe the floor with the competition in Beat Saber, it’s Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’s cyborg-ninja Raiden.
These High-Frequency Blades are based on his weapon in said game, with some changes so they fit-in with Beat Saber’s aesthetic. Among other things, they’re a bit darker-colored, and they have a neon glow on the edge of the blade.
They’re also available in a brighter flashier version that extends the neon glow to the entire blade and even into part of the hilt.
2. Doriru
As anyone who’s ever watched Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann knows – there’s nothing quite as bad-ass and manly as a pair of sharp, rotating drills.
These drill-blades are one of the most mesmerizing designs available for Beat Saber, to the point where you might get distracted from the game by their sheer beauty.
They feature a constantly-rotating engine at the hilt that looks fantastic, an inner glow that alternates between black and white periodically – and they’re compatible with custom colors!
1. Portal Saber
The single coolest modded sabers I’ve seen in the entire Beat Saber community have to be these Portal Sabers – also known as the Aperture Science Dual Handheld Portal-Assisted Cube Slicing Device.
While the blades of the ASDHPACSD are themselves short like daggers, Aperture Science’s proprietary portal technology easily doubles their working length.
If you’ve played Portal before, you know what I’m talking about.
If you’ve never played Portal before, these still look cool right?
They’ve got a pretty cool start-up animation and they support custom colors as well.
